ZZ Top, the little ‘ol band with the big, Texas-sized blues rock sound, have been living up to their “Can’t Stop Rockin’” moniker coined by their 1985 hit song of the same title. For the first time since 2005, the Texas-trio has launched a full-scale tour and has been tearing up the road, playing to jam-packed venues since opening their 2007 tour on March 6th in Biloxi, MS. They followed with stops in Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, California and a two-night stand in Las Vegas.
Next up, the boys will kick it up at the upcoming first annual Rock On The Range set for Saturday, May 19 at Ohio’s Columbus Crew Stadium. Summer tour dates are being announced and exclusive pre-sales have been available for ZZ Top fan club members for select dates. On ZZ Top’s current 2007 tour, the blues-rock trio has been knocking out fans with blistering versions of their many classic hits including, “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” Gimmie All Your Lovin’,” “Cheap Sunglasses,” “Sleeping Bag” and “Velcro Fly” from albums like 1983’s Eliminator, 1985’s Afterburner and ZZ Top’s most recent studio album, Mescalero, released in 2003.
In a testament to the Texas bluesmen’s iconic status and popularity, VH1 will pay homage to ZZ Top’s influence on American rock at the second annual “VH1 Rock Honors” airing Thursday, May 24 at 9pm/8c on VH1 as previously reported. Along with honoring ZZ Top’s contributions to America’s rock n’ roll landscape, this year VH1 will also honor Genesis, Heart and Ozzy Osbourne. In a night of electrifying performances, Alice in Chains, Keane, Nickelback, Queens of the Stone Age and Gretchen Wilson will pay unforgettable musical tribute to these living legends with the honorees all performing together live on one stage. The 2-hour tribute will salute ZZ Top as a one of America’s groundbreaking bands of rock and their powerful influence as a band who has made a lasting mark on the history of rock.
The current tour’s success has further solidified ZZ Top’s world-standing as one of rock’s most dynamic and powerful live acts. Stay tuned to the tour page for more pre-sale announcements in store for the band’s 2007 tour, exclusively for ZZ Top fan club members.
