The wedding of ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill to longtime companion, filmmaker / actress Charleen "Chuck" McCrory on Saturday, March 23rd was highlighted by a number of surprises that delighted the couple's family and friends. At the reception, held at Tony's Ballroom in Houston, Dusty the groom that he and "Chuck," a couple since the early '90's, had not, as planned, wed in a private ceremony prior to the reception. The two had decided, rather, to tie the knot before over two hundred invited guests.

The bride, dressed in a Reem Acra gown and wearing Sergio Rossi peau de soie boots, entered the room as Duck Soup, a nine piece band "imported" for the occasion from Austin, performed a version of the ZZ Top hit "Rough Boy." Immediately thereafter, Harris County Criminal District Court Judge Joan Huffman joined the two in matrimony by the power invested in her, as she put it, "by the great State of Texas." The groom's Best Man was ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard with his wife Debbie serving as Chuck's Maid of Honor. Billy F Gibbons was in attendance as well to witness the joyous occasion.

After the ceremony, the couple was expected to kick things off with their first dance as lawful husband and wife but, instead, Dusty surprised the new Mrs. Hill by grabbing the microphone and serenading her with a very convincing version of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love" that brought tears to the eyes of bride and guests alike.

The groom's suit was by Hugo Boss and his boots by J. B. Hill (no relation) of El Paso, Texas. Cathy Carmendy of Santa Monica, California designed the rings that were exchanged with Chuck and Dusty's respective vows.

Dusty, known as "The Dust," to his wife and friends, and Chuck plan a weeklong honeymoon in New York. Both bride and groom are lifelong fans of the city; she spent time there this winter for gown fittings and both are looking forward to enjoying the Big Apple's attractions, uninterrupted by ZZ Top's performance schedule for the first as a couple.
