ZZ Top has canceled its European tour so a band member can undergo treatment for a benign growth in his inner ear that's affecting his hearing. Dr. Shawn Nasseri, an otolaryngologist treating bassist/singer Dusty Hill, said that preliminary plans do not include surgery. "In the near-term, we plan to stabilize Dusty's hearing and symptoms with medication and a conservative management strategy," he said in a statement.

ZZ Top, the little 'ol band with the big, Texas-sized blues rock sound, have been living up to their "Can't Stop Rockin'" moniker coined by their 1985 hit song of the same title. For the first time since 2005, the Texas-trio has launched a full-scale tour and has been tearing up the road, playing to jam-packed venues since opening their 2007 tour on March 6th in Biloxi, MS. They followed with stops in Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, California and a two-night stand in Las Vegas.

From The Times-Picayune: Friday's set at the Acura Stage renewed my appreciation of the lil' ol' band from Texas. Maybe it was the sight of my 67-year-old mother-in-law, born in Dallas and raised in Fort Worth, standing in a puddle wearing her daughter's Tevas, gleefully dancing the "north Texas push" during "Legs." Or maybe ZZ Top's brand of boogie is best enjoyed in a muddy field, under steel gray skies, when the fact that they performed at all was something of a minor miracle.
